Main tasks in the project and previous experience relevant to those tasks:
The group (>25 people) is embedded in the NCMLS research institute. We have longstanding (> 25 years) experience in murine animal models of arthritis, with a focus on cytokines, mechanisms of chronicity and joint destruction and advanced therapeutic targeting.
The main tasks in the project will be wp1-3, ranging from model standardization in defined strains and impact of environment on arthritis sensitivity, to expression profiling and characterization of pathways in the various models, including response to major drugs. In addition, development of novel imaging technology to non-invasively monitor progression of inflammation and joint damage using engineered promoter-gene constructs reflective of distinct pathways.

Fons van de Loo, PhD: expertise in viral vectors, gene targeting, gene expression and novel imaging tools
Marije Koenders, PhD: expertise in cytokines, model standardization, model development and novel therapeutic screening
Shahla Abdollahi-Roodsaz, PhD: expertise in TLR and environmental interactions
